I tried to relocate it when I got home but failed to see her. Did she already join Herschel and the parents elsewhere? At least I know they both made it out this year. I hope they stick around from time to time. Stay tuned!
A description of encounters with birds and other wildlife during personal birding trips, Audubon fieldtrips, and banding days primarily in Florida but will include out of state finds when they happen.

Maggie Emerges
I was getting ready for the day and it was well before dawn. I heard a Barred Owl calling but it was not the usual Who-cooks-for-you call. It was more like a whooping but definitely an owl. It was still very dark when I was able to walk outside but I could see a ghostly form out on a branch. Maggie, the second owlet, had emerged from the nest in the night!

I tried to relocate it when I got home but failed to see her. Did she already join Herschel and the parents elsewhere? At least I know they both made it out this year. I hope they stick around from time to time. Stay tuned!
