Indigo Bunting

I have been hearing a new chipping sound out back. Thought for sure that it was some type of sparrow but I swore I had seen a streak of blue two days ago.

This morning I noticed a small shape hopping through the Fire Spikes. The bird finally came out into the open and revealed itself as a molting male Indigo Bunting! This is the only photo I could get from inside the house. It flew off as soon as the door opened.



Don't usually have them visit the yard but the sounds I have been hearing tell me that it has been here for at least a week. Hope it sticks around for some better shots.
